Land Rover Series 1 Diesel Engine 2L
Here we have a Land Rover High Speed 2 Litre Diesel engine. Going by the serial number this engine was probably fitted to an early series 2 Diesel model. This is the same very rare Diesel engine fitted to the series 1 for the last 10 months of production then fitted to the early series 2 models before being dropped for the 21/4 Diesel.
Very hard to find now and an absolute must have if you are restoring an original series 1 or 2 that was a Diesel model. Some people are happy just putting a later Diesel engine in but it won't be correct spec and will significantly reduce it's value and judges points. I don't have any history for this engine other than it came from a farm sale and was included in a bundle of Land Rover parts and vehicles. It turns over freely and is the version with heater pipes.
It does not have a dynamo or starter or fuel filter. These parts are very hard to find and when you do they are incredibly expensive so finding a donor engine was the best way to go. Thankfully I didn't need any parts from it so now I can offer it to another restorer. I'm not open to offers as like I said it's priced to sell and is worth as much just for parts.
