I was told by the chap I bought it off that it had been in a barn for some 25 years when he found it. She has an age related number plate. Original bits that came with her; Chassis, Rear Tub, Doors, Wings, Door Tops, Screen, Front panel, Axles, Gearbox, Wheels, all controls pedals and levers, steering wheel, linkages, dash panel etc etc. The engine has been replaced as this was a knackered and seized later type spreadbore. It runs like a little sewing machine a beautiful little thing it is.
Bulkhead was replaced with a new one again expensive the original literally fell off the chassis. It was so far gone.. Work done; Chassis has been repaired where it needed it. Done to well beyond MOT standard.
New autosparks correct wiring loom with alternator conversion to run halogen lights a must in modern traffic. Indicators were already fitted so these were retained. Correct rear lights obtained and fitted. The chassis / bulkhead will never rot out again as it has 6 coats of paint then treated internally and externally with top quality marine grade Bilt Hambler rust prevention wax, which creeps into every nook and cranny. All running gear / brakes checked and rebuilt as required so there are no seized nuts and bolts anywhere on the land rover all have copper grease on them so they will come out in 20 years. Brand new original pattern steering box obtained at much expense.. Many other jobs and repairs done.. Doors seals, new sliding windows, new hood and sticks etc etc. Work that can be done as and when required. Do the wheels, clean and paint them, change the petrol tank as its not correct type these are easy to get and replace. It holds fuel and does what a fuel tank does!
Swap over the rear springs as I totally cocked up and put the passenger side on the drivers side.. My mistake totally forgot about the stronger spring on the drivers side. Keep her topped up with oil and grease and shes good for another 60 odd years. If you have any questions please ask.. Thanks to all the people who have asked questions regarding this little 80 inch..
