1967 Land Rover Series IIA V8

Land Rover Series IIA 88 V8. 1967 model on original chassis. 1994 3.9l Rover V8 engine with Weber 38 DGAS carb, coupled to a standard 4spd manual transmission with desirable Fairey Overdrive. 3.54 Range Rover differentials, in late 109 axles for larger brakes (Salisbury rear axle). Brand new full stainless steel exhaust system from manifolds back.

Electric Facet fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. 8 spoke steel wheels with 235/85/R16 all-terrain tyres. Accompanying the vehicle is a history file documenting receipts and MoT certificates, and a full specification sheet with service parts listed making maintenance easy. Is considered by many the hardiest Series model constructed, having the same main design as the original Series 1, but improved upon in many areas. It is the type of classic Land Rover that features strongly in the general public's perception of the Land Rover, and its shape was carried right through to the most recent Defender, which only this year has seized production after its long 67 year life. This particular model is the archetypal green Regular short wheel base (88), but with a twist It has a very powerful 3.9 litre Rover V8 lifted from a Range Rover Classic! It starts readily and runs well, ticking over with a smooth burble at the tailpipe. It will cruise around town and country very smoothly, but floor the throttle pedal and accelerates a ridiculous rate (for an old Land Rover anyway)! With the overdrive engaged, it will sit at 65-70 mph all day long if you can put up with the noise! Dont be put off by the fuel economy, it has the same, if not better MPG than a standard 2.25 petrol engined vehicle. It will pull up to a stop nice and straight with the uprated brakes, but please remember they are not servo assisted like a more modern vehicle. On road of off it, the vehicle is very capable and manoeuvrable, with its parabolic springs, large offset rims and power steering.

I did plan to fit original style steel wheels, but put this off due to the benefits extra offset of the ones currently fitted. If you were so inclined to partake in local Land Rover Club trials, I reckon it would do extremely well! The chassis and bulkhead are believed to be completely original, but have had repairs in the past to a good standard the bulkhead is mildly modified to accept the V8 engine. The chassis is solid and has been undersealed in the past, but will require doing again soon but I have let it as it is to allow you to inspect the true condition.

The vehicle was rebuilt a few years ago, and has been reassembled using stainless steel fasteners, so things will come apart without fighting with rusted nuts! The paint has been sprayed, it is still in good condition but there are a few small areas where it has been chipped, and there is a section on the rear tub that has been brush painted to repair a long scratch. The interior is good; with vinyl Deluxe front seats and rear bench seats for passengers. There is a portable audio system that hooks onto the rear bulkhead and plugs into the 12v socket.

The floor pans are in durable chequer plate, including the rear. The vehicle has a long MoT until 11.

I've described it as accurately as I can, but please take your time looking through the photos. Viewing is most welcome, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
